Robert Francis Eagan Sr.

Robert Francis Eagan, Sr., 86, of Heathsville, VA, passed away December 1, 2011. "Bob" was born and raised in Girardville, PA. He joined the Navy in 1943 and served 20 honorable years. During WWII he saw combat in the Marianas Islands. During peace time he served on Norfolk based ships, USS Paiute, USS Tutuila and USS Saipan. He also retired from Building Services Trades Section, Navy Public Works in 1980. He was predeceased by the love of his life, Ruth Harksen Eagan of Norfolk, VA; and a daughter, Vadena Sharpless Sterlachini; 4 brothers and 3 sisters. Surviving children are Robbin E. Martin of Chesapeake, VA, Robert, Jr. of Heathsville, VA, and Debra Quesinberry and husband Stephen of Henrico County, VA. Bob loved being part of the "greatest generation" and was blessed with a very happy life and love of country, family, and friends. His kind sense of humor and kindness will be missed by all 7 grandchildren and 8 great-grandkids. The family thanks and appreciates the love and care provided to dad by the staffs of Allzwell Assisted Living, Carrington Place of Chesapeake and Medi Home Health and Hospice. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Great Neck Chapel is handling a graveside service to be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, 2011, at Princess Anne Memorial ParK on Great Neck Rd., Virginia Beach. The family will receive friends after the service at Hollomon-Brown Great Neck Chapel. Memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the local chapter of the Joy Fund.
