God Bless You

This man was not just another doctor, this man was special. I always felt an overwhelming sense of awe just standing next to this gentle giant. He was a doctors' doctor, a patient's best friend, a nurse's hero. He was warm, extremely caring, the best of the best and he was ours. A neighbor came to me, as often neighbors do when you are a nurse, requesting advice. Her adoptive daughter had some special concerns and was referred to Metro to see Dr.Eiben. Was he good she asked? I told her run,...

To all of the Eiben family, my thoughts and prayers are with you in this time.

My most heartfelt sympathy to the Eiben family. Bob & I worked together on the Bratenahl Recreation Commission and it was such a delight to be a commissioner with him. He was very well liked and had such a positive influence on the commission. During these stressful times you are all in my thoughts and prayers.

For a child that suffered from seizures, Dr. Eiben always had away to comfort and explain what was happening to to a scared child. Thru the 30 plus years that have passed I have never forgotten( nor will I )what a special person he was to me

Dr. Eiben was indeed a giant in medicine in Cleveland. I've read so many wonderful posts here about his warmth and caring from patients, families and colleagues. His love of the (C)WRU School of Medicine and his leadership in its alumni association is what brought me close to Bob. I am, we all are, better for having known him. May memories of Dr. Eiben continually remind each of us of what kind of person we can be.

Thoughts and prayers are with the whole (very extended) family. Dr. Eiben was the true Marcus Welby. So kind, so good. I worked for him during his tenure in Pediatric Neurology at Metro in the 70's & 80's. He was an inspiration. Although I haven't seen him in many years, I'll miss him deeply.

My memories of Dr. Eiben go back to July, 1956, when as a 25 yr old, my husband, Jerry, contacted Polio & was hospitalized at Toomy Pavillion, City Hosp., now Cleveland Metro. To me, he was close to a Saint for he saved my husband's life w/ a Tracheotomy. He cared so much for his " Polio" people and his concern continued on as he came to many of our reunions. I have many photos of he & his wife. God Bless you, his Family, and may he rest in peace.

My deepest sympathy to the entire Eiben family. Dr. Eiben was a truly kind, generous and most caring friend. As will all who knew and loved him, I will miss him very much but am grateful for having known him and for his calling me his friend.

Sympathies from South Africa. I have many fond memories of the gracious man on so many Cleveland Civil War Round Table field trips. Bob never minded waiting for me as I puffed along in the wake, charging up Missionary Ridge! He was a wonderful companion.
