A.J. Desmond & Sons Funeral Directors - Crooks Road Obituary

Robert "Robbie" Timothy Ellwood - Beloved Son, Brother and Friend. Robbie Ellwood was born on September 30, 1987 in Royal Oak, Michigan. Everyone told us he was special. 'Special' may have been the coined phrase, at the time, to describe a child with a disability; we never anticipated that the term 'special' would instead be the adjective to describe the impact he would make on countless lives. Robbie was a sports fanatic - any and all types of sports. From Piston's basketball to Red Wings hockey to U of M football, Robbie was always their biggest fan. He was not only energetic in the stands, he was also a valued team player on the field. He loved to play soccer, basketball, poly-hockey, tennis, bowling, swimming, golf and football. He was proud to be a part of a team. Robbie was also a diligent worker. He loved having a job to do. He mastered many trades at Kroger, Starbucks, The Townsend Hotel, and Super Summer to name a few. His family was his greatest love. He left his legacy as the son of Robert and Stephanie Ellwood. Brother to Dawn (Tim Loney), Meredith (Jeff Nichols), Libby (Lennie Hall), and Lindsay (Mike Bellware). Loving uncle to Maddison, Emily, Zachary, Chase, Ross, Nick, Brooke, and Jack. There were also many 'surrogate' families that Robbie equally cherished. He leaves a legacy of the heart. From his smiles to his jokes, from his energy to his enthusiasm, he was beyond infectious in his love for others. It was through this passion that he will forever leave an impact in everyone's heart … and a high five on everyone's hand. Loving son of Dr. Robert and Stephanie. Cherished brother of Dawn Loney (Tim), Meredith Nichols (Jeff), Libby Hall (Lennie), and Lindsay Bellware (Mike). Devoted uncle of eight. The family will receive friends Wednesday 2-8 p.m. at A.J. Desmond & Sons Funeral Home, 2600 Crooks Road (between Maple & Big Beaver). The Funeral Service is Thursday 10 a.m. at Woodside Bible Church, 6600 Rochester Road, Troy (north of Square Lake Road). Visitation at church begins Thursday at 9 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please send memorial tributes to Special Olympics of Michigan or Angels' Place.
