Robert D. Emich

Robert David Emich, Sr. was born in Akron, OH on November 17, 1925 to William and Elizabeth (Wenhardt) Emich. After 95 years of being a hardworker, Robert is now at rest, safe in the arms of his precious Lord Jesus, in the Promised Land. Robert is survived by his loving wife, Esther Kathleen (Galat) Emich, of 72 years of marriage; daughters, Brenda Jean (Adrian) King of Colorado and Anna Elizabeth (Todd) Stuber of Illinois; brothers, Alvin, Theodore, and Gerald, all of Akron, Ohio; sisters, Marilyn of Meadsville, Pa., Emile of Akron, Ohio, and Evelyn of Columbus, Ohio; and God's blessings of 15 grandchildren and 47 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Preceded in death by sons, Robert David Emich, Jr. and William John Emich III and his siblings, Ella Marie, Betty Jean, Shirley Ann, an infant, Lorene Mae, William Erwin, Walter Allen, and Richard Paul. Robert served in the U.S. Navy as the ship's cook aboard the L.S.T. 947 during World War II and the Korean War, reaching the rank of S.C 1/2., member of the Ohio Amphibious Force, then served four years in the Reserves, and member of V.F.W Post 288 After his time in the Navy, worked for Emery's Sparkle Market. Along with his father, as co-owner, and three brothers they opened up the Emich Provision Co. the first Independent Self-Serve Super Market in the city of Akron. Robert was the "Wurtz Mocker" (sausage maker) for the business. Robert also worked for Goodyear Aircraft. He was a lifelong resident of Copley Township and had a farm on Minor Road, member of the Akron Apostolic Christian Church. From the year of 1946, Robert was a very dedicated blood donor with a very rare type of blood, which was "B" positive. He had donated the total of 36 gallons, which would be 288 pints...saving many lives. He was the largest blood donor in the State of Ohio. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Akron Apostolic Christian Church, 2360 South Medina Line Rd., Wadsworth, OH 44281. Family will receive friends on Saturday, February 20, 2021 with a Calling Hours from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. and the Funeral Service following at 12 p.m. in the Akron Apostolic Church.
