East Longmeadow-Robert C. Fenn, 91 passed away peacefully Wednesday. He was born in Springfield, grew up in Agawam, lived in Springfield and later moved to East Longmeadow. He became a firefighter in 1949, was named District Chief in 1973 and retired in 1980. In April 1979 he received a Springfield Fire Department Commendation for the Albany Street Fire. He served in the Army Air Corps during WWII as a tail gunner, was a life member of the Springfield Elks #61. He belonged to the American Legion Post #430 and in 1979 received the Law and Order Award. He was predeceased by his wife Florence (Mazzoli) Fenn in 2002, his son Robert C. Fenn Jr. in 1949, his sister Eleanor Robbins, his sister Jean Sands and his brother James. He leaves his daughters Susan Kiely of Agawam and Nancy Kiendzior and her husband Dana of East Longmeadow, a brother Francis of Texas and grandsons Scott Murphy and his wife Elisabeth and Shaun Murphy and his partner Sasha Robles as well as many nieces and nephews. Friends and family will meet Monday at 11 am at St. Michael’s Church in East Longmeadow for the Liturgy followed by burial in St. Thomas Cemetery. Calling hours at the Agawam Curran-Jones Funeral Home are Sunday 2:00 to 5:00 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
