TRAVERSE CITY — Robert "Bob" Miller Fenton, 79, of Mancelona, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, June 8, 2007, at Munson Medical Center.
Bob was born on Nov. 3, 1927, in Youngwood, Pa., to Harold and Carrie (Miller) Fenton. On June 8, 1957, Bob married the love of his life, Jean E. Karvel.
In his early years, Bob enjoyed fishing and bowling.
He honorably served in the United States Army during the Korean War with the 81st Airborne in the Central Intelligence Corps out of Ft. Bragg, Ashville, N.C.
Bob spent his entire professional life, of 36 years, working for Chrysler.
Bob was a member of Cornerstone Community Bible Church at Manistee Lake.
Later in life, he enjoyed traveling with his wife and friends. Seeing an opportunity to help cardiac rehab patients, he assisted in the delivery of handmade heart shaped pillows to Munson Heart Center and was known as the "Pillow Man".
Bob and his wife had a love for children and adopted nine wonderful kids. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandkids, who gave him great joy.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Jean; nine children, Kerry (Frank) Corkalo, Martha Fenton, Karolynn (Ron) Schofield, Robin Jahnke, William (Lori) Fenton, Kathleen (Jim) Sodt, Daniel (Josephine) Fenton, Andrew Fenton and Kimberly (Randy) Gerycz; a sister, Betty (Ken) Seymour; 13 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his two brothers, Jack and Bill.
A memorial service will be held for Bob on Saturday, June 16, 2007, at 1 p.m., at the Cornerstone Community Bible Church, 6821 County Road 612, at Manistee Lake in Kalkaska.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Munson Heart Center or the Cornerstone Community Bible Church Building Fund. Envelopes for funds may be obtained at the church.
