Robert Fleagle Sr.

From the first memory of Bob at Friday Harbor, as the master of the Ikki Not, an air- sea, research raft and my many interactions with him, from my NOAA days, till coming back to settle in Seattle, Bob was one of the truly fine people in my life. A true gentleman who made the world a bit brighter. He will be missed!

Bob Fleagle was my uncle, my mother's sister's husband. I grew up in Maryland and in 1962 my college friend and I managed to get jobs at the World's Fair in Seattle and we lived with Bob and Marianne that whole summer. Bob was used to boys and having two 19 year old very busy and social girls there was a shock to him, but he was very gracious to us! I haven't seen him since I accompanied my mother, Ruth, to Marianne's funeral in 2000, but I will always remember him, his fabulous career and...
