Robert F. Flick

Robert F. Flick, 86, of Saltsburg, died Monday, July 4, 2011 at 4:10 a.m. in Excela Health Latrobe Area Hospital. Born on October 9, 1924 in Youngstown, OH, he was the son of the late Arnold L. Flick and Mary (Laughlin) Flick of Edgewood, PA, and lived in Saltsburg since 1949. Robert graduated from Slippery Rock State College. Prior to retirement in 1982, he taught History, Civics, Health, Physical Education, and Drivers Education for 35 years in the Blairsville-Saltsburg School District. Robert was also a football and track coach for 17 years, and a basketball coach for 4 years. He was a veteran of World War II, United States Army, 106th Infantry Division, serving in the European Theatre. Robert was the former mayor of Saltsburg, a member of Saltsburg Presbyterian Church, a Life Member of the Saltsburg American Legion, the Indiana V.F.W, and was a member of the Avonmore Moose, Kiski Sportsmen's Club, and the PA Retired Teachers Association. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife: Norma L. (Bressler) Flick, his second wife: Norma Gail (Emanuel) Flick; and a brother: Gene A. Flick. He is survived by his sons: Larry Robert (Holly) Flick of Bella Vista, AR, and Roger Gene (Joyce) Flick of Damascus, MD; daughter: Terry Dawn (Joe) Drenning of Davis, WV; 8 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren; sister: Carol Ann Williamson of Irwin, PA; sister in law: M. Joyce Flick of Rockville, MD; and many nieces and nephews. Friends will be received on Thursday, July 7, 2011, from 2 to 4 & 6 to 8 p.m. at the CURRAN FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES, 701 SALT ST., SALTSBURG. A Celebration of Life Tribute Service takes place Friday, July 8, 2011 at 10:00 at the funeral home. Private interment in Twin Valley Cemetery, Delmont.
