Not sure what to say?

I am so happy to see all the heartfelt messages honoring my Dad. It´s been almost a year and a half since his passing. His wife Elaine, my mother, left us to join him earlier this year having wanted little more than to be with him again. The world will miss them both.

One year flies so fast. I was recently telling some of my students about Dr Frater. Rest in peace, my friend. Your legacy continues, and you will always be remembered for your contributions

One of the most impressive people I have ever been with. He was my doctor and he performed a miraculous surgery. I will remember him for his great humor and his very confident demeanor.

I was shocked to learn that DR Robert Frater died this January, 2024. I met Dr Frater in Paris over 25 years ago while attending Dr Alain Carpentier's mitral repair "Club Mitrale" seminar. In 2011 he helped me developed a unique way of repairing the mitral valve with MitraPatch. We wrote three peer review papers together. Dr Frater was kind enough to be my consultant since then. When my pig would die postoperatively, he would console me "do not worry these things happen. Do not give up and...

I was a proud member of the cardiovascular team working with Dr. Frater for 15 years in the OR at Hospital of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. There was no one before or after that I enjoyed working with more, and it was the highlight of my career. My most profound condolences to the family.

I sat next to Robert Frater on a flight from New York to Cape Town. I had met his brother during my time at Bishops 1954-9. My condolences to his family a truly brilliant man and a credit to his profession, but always fun to know he was someone you could not forget. I remember him to this day. Erskine Tanner

I met Bob on line talking to hundreds of cardiac surgeons from around the world. Incidentally I was a colleague in training with his son Dirk in Dallas. I arranged to meet him at a meeting in Florida. We became more than friends or colleagues...at least from my perspective I considered him a surrogate father in heart surgery. His breadth and depth were as profound as his humility. If teaching is about learning, he was the valedictorian student of mitral disease. His father, also a...

He was a Mentor to me first online all the way from India and I had such vibrant discussions with him during my formative years as a Cardiac Surgeon. I was fortunate to meet him in a meeting in Croatia and he will always be remembered. We were his groupie fans as young cardiac surgeons and I still have the autographed suture guide that he devised stored carefully. He touched many hearts in more than one way. May you rest in peace old friend and mentor.
