Not sure what to say?

I was a lab assistant for him at Ferris. I attribute my success as a pharmacist to his input in my life

My heartfelt condolences to Dr. Friar´s entire family. I had the privilege of being his student in Anatomy/Physiology at Ferris State University in 2010, and I learned so much from him. He always reminded us to take the stairs and get our steps in, and I´ll never forget how he would run into class-he was so fast! Just recently, I was sharing with my husband about Dr. Friar´s wisdom and impact, which led me to search his name and discover this obituary. Even in just one semester, he made a...

A year later and still thinking fondly of my mentor, my colleague, my inspiration: the one and only Dr. Friar, last of the "tough guys". He had true grit.

Thank you for the opportunity to have you. You will always be my hero and favorite professor!! I had the privilege to be his assistant and we laughed all the time. I loved his stories and his knowledge. I could listen for hours. My only wish is that he could have lived forever so everyone had the privilege to meet and learn from him.

Dr. Friar was my treasured friend, esteemed colleague and great inspiration. I regarded him as my mentor, even though I was an English major and his field was Physiology. He was full of enthusiasm and such a zest for life that it was contagious. I sent all my Pre Med students over to his office IF they were really serious and motivated as I knew he would give them his time and his wise counsel. Simply put he was irreplaceable, ALIVE and full of ideas. How I enjoyed his company!

The best instructor I ever had at Ferris! He not only taught me Anatomy so I could become a Dental Hygienist, but also many important tips about staying healthy and living a successful life. Prayers to the family.

To the Friar family, Bob was such a gift to those of us at Ferris who worked closely with us. He impacted so many students over his long career, and the scholarships you and he created continue to support student success in the biological sciences. Our deepest condolences and support as you come together to celebrate his life. With love and respect. Scott

Bob, you will be missed and such an inspiration to me as an instructor and former student. Till we meet again RIP. Love and prayers to his family. Anna Rizzo
