Robert M. Frieders, 86, of Aurora passed away on Monday, July 8, 2013 at Seasons Hospice. He was born September 8, 1926 in North Aurora the son of the late John and Ann Frieders.
Bob grew up in North Aurora and was a 1944 graduate of West Aurora High School. He met his future wife, Carol Moenning, on a blind date coordinated by mutual friends as Carol had just moved to Aurora from Quincy, IL. Bob proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during W.W. II where he attained the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was stationed in Manila following the Japanese occupation. Bob was also a longtime member of Holy Angels Church. He was self-employed as a commercial artist. His business was known as Robert Frieders and Associates.
Bob is survived by his wife of 55 years, Carol, of Aurora, his children, Michael (Holly) Frieders, of Aurora, Paul Frieders, of Aurora, Mary (Todd) Hassert, of New Jersey, six grandchildren, Alix (Josh) Cunningham, of Elgin, Ashley Frieders, of Aurora, Samantha Smith, of Arizona, Robert Frieders, of New Orleans, LA., Jacob and Lisa Frieders, of Aurora, four great grandchildren, Sunny Newell, Bella Jamez, Cadence Cunningham, Jameson Cunningham as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by a brother, Jake Frieders, a sister, Doris Mungerson and a granddaughter, Destiny Smith.
Funeral services will take place at 2 P.M. on Friday, July 12, 2013 at The Healy Chapel, 332 W. Downer Pl., Aurora with Fr. Michael Lavin officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Montgomery. Visitation will be from 12 P.M. until 2 P.M. on Friday prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
