FULTON, Robert Edward "Robby," 55, of Boca Raton, Fla., departed this life on Wednesday, April 27, 2011. Robby, the first son of parents, Robert and Mildred Fulton, was born November 23, 1955, in Richmond, Va. Robby grew up in the Chamberlayne area of Henrico County where he acquired many lifelong friendships. He graduated from Henrico High School in 1974. He went on to obtain a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and state University (Virginia Tech.). His love for the open air, the beach, and the ocean waves took him to Boca Raton, Fla. In Boca, he started a business selling decorative tropical plants. He established himself as "The Plant Man" in Pawley's Island, South Carolina and made many treks between there and Boca, hauling and selling his plants. It was also in Boca that he met his lifelong companion, Dawn Grungo of New Jersey. Together they enjoyed the sunshine of Florida and together they had a beautiful daughter, Jessica Fulton. Robby was preceded in death by his mother, Mildred Devilbiss Fulton. Robby is survived by his father, Robert B. Fulton of Mechanicsville, Va.; his brother, John D. Fulton and wife, Pam of Mechanicsville, Va.; his sister, Mildred Fulton Walton and husband, Chris, of Mechanicsville, Va.; his niece, Brandy Walton; and his nephews, Christopher Walton, Sam Fulton and Evan Fulton. We will all miss that wonderful carefree chuckle that only Robby could give. The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Monaghan Funeral Home, 7300 Creighton Parkway, Mechanicsville. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Forest Lawn Cemetery.

Not sure what to say?

I use to chat with Robbie at his plant stand and I will miss seeing him. Hope the family has peace in their grief.

Robbie is in my heart every single day. I miss him so much!

Thank You Robbie for being the plant man at Pawleys. I just found out you were gone... I've been out of town and have been looking for you for about two weeks I asked someone today where you were... I will always think of you and Auther evertime I drive into my yard as there are about 75 beautiful plants to honor you. Thank you for being my friend. You are deeply missed.

So saddened and shocked to hear of Robbys passing. He will be missed. I always enjoyed talking with him and buying plants from him. So sorry for your loss, as it is ours also.

Robby rented a space from me in Pawleys Island for his plant business for several years and he always had a smile on his face. He will be missed very much by all his Pawleys Island friends and me...I spoke with him recently and it was very obvious how much he loved and adored his daughter.

To all who knew Robby....we are truely saddened by his passing....we all remember the "American Graffiti" memories of cruising, crashing sorority parties, beach week, listening to cutting edge music...but I will most remember Robby and I and some other friends suddenly deciding to drive to New Orleans the first week of high school, spending the weekend there, and pulling into the school parking at 8 am the next week going to class like we've never left. Peace be with you, my brother....

Mr. Fulton, John, Mildred and Family,
We are saddened by Robby's passing. Please know that he is is truly at peace now. We know that you will take comfort in your many special and treasured memories of him. Robby was one-of-a-kind and will be missed but never forgotten.
Our love, thoughts and prayers are with you all-
Andrea Beagle and Ray Tate

My prayers are with the family. Robbie and are were friends in elementary school at Chamberlayne. We were not close at Henrico High though as common interest change as we got older. I lived and still do on Brookside... a couple blocks from Robbie's childhood home on Ridge.

Mr Fulton, John and Mildred I'm so sorry for your loss.
This is a loss to us all.

Robby, every time we got together, which wasn't nearly often enough, it was like we picked right up from where we left off. I always looked forward to those times I knew I'd be seeing you. I'm going to miss you.
