My name is James J Poche jr. I'am an activity volunteer at the Veterans Home. Mr Gibbins was one of many Veterans that I helped look after. I really spoiled him with my care when I was there. The passing of one of my beloved Vets is the most difficult thing to take. They become members of my second family. I take solace in the fact that he is with The Lord in Heaven. I am so sorry that Bill and I cannot make it to New Orleans tomorrow to honor your sweet sweet Dad. I have been praying for him a lot. If all the men in the world could be like our Dads this place would be a different world. I loved the write up in the Paper and what a sweet picture. My deepest sympathy to Bob's family. Bob and Mary were wonderful next door neighbors from the time we arrived in 1961 until Mary and my husband, John, died just a few weeks apart in 2007. My children learned to swim in the Gibbens pool until Bob built one for us. John and Bob planted a grapefruit tree together on the property line between our homes and we shared the fruit for many years until the tree succumbed to a freeze one winter.
