Not sure what to say?

Miss your smiling face and our engaging conversations at SDMAC and other events around San Diego, Bob. Happy Heavenly Birthday and know that your Shipmates cherish our memories of you, Steve Loeffler

Back in the late 80's and early 90's, I was a young Navy Lieutenant and I served under Capt. Goff at COMNAVSURFGRU OONE in Long Beach, California. As my superior, Capt. Goff was a great leader and mentor to me. In some respects, he was also like a father-figure as well. We had a great time serving together and we enjoyed visiting Portland Rose Festival and Seattle Sea Fairs under his command. He was a gentle and fair person who has an awesome personality. My regret is that I never seeked...

I was Bob's replacement on the COMNAVSURFPAC Staff. Bob left me with a superb situation, & his turnover to me was the most professional one in my Naval career. Bob, I miss you Shipmate! You were a fine man, and a fine Sailor!

To the Goff Family, I just this morning found out about Bob's death. I am at a loss for words. Please accept my sincere condolences.

From managing my career as my Detailer to being a friend and mentor, Bob filled all of those roles with dignity. I shall miss his humor and his friendly, easy way of communicating. He was a gentleman and a role model Naval Officer. He made an impact because he genuinely cared. He was a great guy. I shall miss him.

I knew Bob when he was the chief staff officer for a destroyer squadron and I was XO of USS Carpenter. He was a good friend who was very thoughtful. He remembered to send me an invitation to his change of command ceremony. I will always remember Bob as one of the top performers in our competitive group.

I had the privilege to serve with Captain Goff on USS LANG. He definitely was an inspiration to many of the Officers and Enlisted. His legacy will last forever for all who served with him. Fair Winds Captain and prayers to his family and friends. God Bless.

Bob was truly a gentleman remembering him as an Alpha Delta brother at San Diego (Jr) City College. And never missed a beat re-meeting at a Camp Jack event at the San Diego Lions Clubhouse. A wonderful life ending way too soon. Blessings to Connie, your children and family.

Our prayers and thoughts are with Connie and the family as they endure the loss of a great Naval Officer, civic leader, father, and husband. It was my pleasure to have served under such a fine officer and gentleman.

We were privileged to have met Bob at Frog's Gym in San Diego. He was such a kind, sweet man whom we feel blessed to have known. Our hearts break for Connie and the family. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you. Bob Stoody and Cathie Sandison xoxo
