Mrs. Goodbary,
I write this with trembling hands and a heavy heart. I'm sure you don't remember since so much time has past but I drove for Gen. Goodbary while you were stationed in Kitzingen Germany. I have thought of you and your husband many times since leaving the Army. Gen. Goodbary taught me so very much. Honor, duty, country, and friendship. My heart is truly broken. I feel as I failed him by not keeping in touch. If there is anything I can do please feel free to contact me. ...

Shirley,

Don't know if you'll see this as so much time has passed. I just learned of the General's passing and want you to know that I remember both of you very fondly from our days at Fort Hood. I could not have asked for a better mentor as I grew as an officer. Being the Brigade HHT Commander with COL Goodbary as the Brigade Commander was a blessing. I hope that you and yours know how many people he touched who will always remember him.

Dearest Shirley,
Troy and I just learned of Allen's death. Our hearts and prayers are with you. We speak of you often and so cherish the precious memories we made together. We will always think of the two of you when we see the photograph he gave us of the Washington Monument and cherry blossoms. Please share your phone # with us as we have only his # and his email.
We love you,
Dianne and Troy

During his time in Germany GEN Goodbary was the representative of the U.S. Army and the American people to the local community in Kitzingen, Germany. He was a wonderful example of all that is great about America and they admired him for it. Proud to serve

Rest in piece dad. I love you more than words can express. We'll take care of Nana and the girls. I'm glad your not in anymore pain. Cancer sucks and you fought another one hell of a battle. I'll see you soon. Your loving son, David

May your hearts soon be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together as you celebrate a life well lived.

I served as a cobra pilot under Gen Goodbary. He was a soft spoken person and had a smile as he talked to you. He always wanted the best for his troopers and I can' deny that we didn' make it easier on some of the minor pranks that we pulled. I knew that he was going to make it high in the military. He Cpt. Williams and I talked about our life. Johnny Helms, Crusader 38

I was saddened to hear of the loss of General Goodbary. I proudly served with him in Vietnam and he was an outstanding Commander. My prayers go out to his family and may he Rest In Peace.
