Robert Goodrow 1932 - 2012 INTERLACHEN, FL - Robert "Bob" Goodrow, 79, passed away Thursday in Palatka, FL. Bob was born on April 14, 1932, to Edwin and Catherine Goodrow and grew up in the Six Corners section of Springfield. He joined the United States Marines in 1949. Upon completion of his basic training at Parris Island, S.C., he was stationed at Subic Bay in the Philippines as a "M.P." Bob's unit was kept busy fighting communist guerrillas known as the "Haks". When war broke out in Korea, Bob volunteered for combat and served with the 1st Marine Division, 11 Marines, Baker Battery, as a forward observer, wireman and radio operator. Bob served on the front line with units of the "ROD" and the "KMC". He was a life member of the VFW and the DAV. Bob was predeceased by his brother Raymond. He leaves his sister Catherine Siano, six nephews Ronald Cowles, Gary Cowles, Wayne Cowles, Richard Cowles, Leonard Cowles and Warren Cowles, and two nieces Donna Ford and Cynthia Cowles. The funeral will be held at the West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home Thursday at 10 am followed by burial in St. Mary's Cemetery in Westfield with Military Honors. i will always remember uncle bobby as a guy who was always there to help people.
when his country needed him,he responded as a proud marine. after his discharge,he spent his life helping one family member after an other.while my brothers and sisters were growing up,he was always there to advise,a ride,fix something.
bobby is and always will be remembered,appreciated and missed.
rest in peace bobby.

My how time passes,I remember Bob as Ray's brother and Kathie there sister.My mom Anna dated Ray for years.I send my condolence to his family.May he rest in peace with his parents and brother.

Oh my - I have such wonderful memories of Bobbie. He hung around with my 4 brothers - Roy, Billy - deceased, Richie and Ronnie - deceased - (LaMotte). He and my brother Richie joined the Marines together along with a couple other friends. They all did basic together but were sent off to other bases once it was finished. I was the youngest of the six LaMotte children and it seems just like yesterday that we all were the "kids from Six Corners". Oh to be able to go back to those wonderful...
