Not sure what to say?

It was an honor and privilege know and be mentored by Dr.Gottsegen

Dr.Robert Gottsegen was an incredible Director. He put together the absolute best faculty with only the best interests of his Graduate Residents. Considering that we had two of the most well known faculty with curettage, it was in 15 minutes that Dr. Gottsegen taught me the principles and technique that I still use today. I own a great debt of gratitude to Dr. Gottsegen as between my first and second years I asked for time off because I could not pay the tuition. He came up with a...

Dr. Gottsegen was not only a terrific mentor and giant in the field of periodontics, he was truly inspirational and had a great personal interest in the success of his residents. He was the main reason I elected to attend the residency program at Columbia, and without a doubt was one of the most significant people in my life. His team of professors was second to none, and a reflection of his leadership. I have missed seeing for far too many years. May he rest in peace and his memory never be...

Bob's greatest gift as an educator was to encourage a fledging periodontist to think critically .He was able to bring together a diverse group of periodontists and encourage them to share their varying approaches in the management of the periodontal patient.By encouraging a dialogue and not a doctrinaire view he inculcated refreshing open minded individuals. How much we miss such a man and his intellect in our current climate .

I was a resident in the Postgraduate Periodontics Program from 1978 - 1980. Dr Gottsegen was my mentor for 20 yrs of my teaching career. In fact, I would not have pursued teaching had it not been for the kind assistance of and guidance by Dr Gottsegen.

Bob's leadership encouraged a spirit of learning for both faculty and students!

Dr. G. was without peer, upon whose shoulders a Specialty reposed.

Dr. G. gave me the opportunity to become a periodontist and as a result to live the life I have. I will always be greatful to him. He was a brilliant thinker and a great teacher.

Bob
