Not sure what to say?

Not a day goes by that I don't try to apply Bob Grayson's underlying philosophy of patient care: "While you are caring for a sick child, that child is yours until he/she has recovered." In a way, he has never died.

I got to know Dr. Grayson when he and his friend and neighbor, Dr. Milton Lesser, had retired from their practices. They joined the Bromeliad Society of South Florida and made the long trek to Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden every month for our meetings. In addition to growing bromeliads, Bob was growing roses (in Florida!) and the first time he came to my house he brought a big bunch of roses, the likes of which I had never seen in Miami. He was also a wood turner and I still have the...

Dr Grayson with our kids when we saw him in July.

Dr. Grayson was my pediatrician from the time I was born until I went away to college in 1984. He was a wonderful, caring doctor and family friend. In 2000, when I gave birth to my first child and I needed advice on getting my colicky baby boy to sleep, I called Dr. Grayson from North Carolina for his advice.

Over the years, as my children grew up he became part of their lives as well. From the annual pumpkin breads, to group outings to his favorite place, Fairchild Gardens, we all...

Bob Grayson was the kindest, gentlest man, and the most sensible pediatrician, I have ever known. I practiced with him on Miami Beach from 1980 until his retirement in 1986. He has left a legacy of compassion here and everywhere he travelled. When Dr. Grayson was caring for your sick child, you knew that you were in good hands. He felt that, as long as that child was in his care, it was his kid, to comfort, and hopefully, to cure. One thing he told me years ago when confronted with an ill...

Dr. Grayson was my brother's and my pediatrician in the 1950's. Later he was my son's first doctor. I respected and sometimes feared a visit when I was sick at home as a kid. My brother Joel became a pediatrician himself with input I am sure from knowing this fine man. He is missed.

Dr. Grayson was my daughters' pediatrician for years during the 1960s. He was admired and respected by his colleagues and adored by his patients. My family extends heartfelt sympathy to the Grayson family.

To the Grayson family: I was a patient of your beloved father, Dr. Grayson from 1962 until 1974. I remember his kind and gentle manner. No matter what was wrong with me, I always felt better as soon as I was in his office. He was everything that one could want in a physician and more. I will always, always remember him with warmth and affection.

Dr. Grayson was the pediatrian for our three children in the mid 1960's. He was the most wonderful, thoughtful and caring physician. As a new mother with the ordinary anxieties and worries about new babies and growing young ones, I was so grateful for his patience, understanding and excellent advice. My husband and I were so sorry to hear of his passing. We extend our sincere sympathy and regret to his wife and family. He was an outstanding doctor and individual.
