Robert E. "Bob" Hansen

Bob helped me grow up and modelled a great work ethic for me which paid off in just about everything I do. I thank Bob for that and being a true friend to my folks and to me. He gave me the opportunity to improve my mental toughness, he was always fair and held me responsible for putting in a good full days work. One of the sayings I remember Bob Hansen telling our students who visited his farm during the 1990's and early 2000's was " I am a rich man, I get up everyday loving my job. I am my own boss and I have a loving family. It kind of summed up his philosophy of the importance of life on the farm. Randy and Eric and your families, we are thinking about you all and please know that we have always had the upmost respect for Bob. Our families go back a long time as my parents became friends with the Hansen's as early as 1950. Our uncle, Don Morgan, became good friends much earlier in 1947. They supported each other in ranching, friendship, and fishing. Later as I worked for Bob picking pears, plums and peaches when I was in High School.
