Dear Dot,
We are so sorry to hear of Bob's passing. It was truly a blessing to meet you and Bob, and Ann and I are forever grateful for the friendship with shared with you for so many years, which was one in a million!
We sure treasure the memories of all of our travels, the fun flying days and wonderful sailing adventures. We are sending you strength and love during this difficult time, and had our granddaughter light a candle in the Grotto at Notre Dame, in Bob's memory. ...

Bob was a very important man in my life. At Cornell Aero Lab and later Calspan, he was my boss, my mentor, a fellow Test pilot and, most importantly, my friend for many decades. The comment "We have lost a humble giant, but his legacy is forever" clearly applies to Robert Harper. He will be missed by all of us in the
world of Aerospace Development and Testing.

Unrecognized by the general public, the Cooper-Harper Rating scale continues in use today for the test flights of literally every new aircraft entering civil and military service. Robert's contributions to the Cooper-Harper Rating scale standardized a critical part of the flight test process and resulted in dramatic improvements in the assessment of aircraft flying qualities.
