Mihovk-Rosenacker Funeral Home - Cincinnati Obituary

Robert George Hauenstein passed away peacefully on July 8, 2021. Son of the late Mary Carol (Eppler) and George Hauenstein, beloved husband of Cindy (Chermely) and proud and loving father of Samuel and Joshua Hauenstein.

Rob was born and raised on the west side of Cincinnati where he graduated from LaSalle High School in 1976. He then earned his degree in electrical engineering from the Ohio College of Applied Science, University of Cincinnati. Rob used his love of electronics in the new and quickly growing field of cable television. He spent over forty years in the industry, first with Metrovision in Green Township, and eventually retiring from Spectrum Cable earlier this year.

While working in cable in the 1980's, Rob launched RJB Audio Video Productions with his friend and co-worker Jack Utz. They videotaped weddings and commercials and worked as DJs providing entertainment for dances and other events. Rob was a long time and active member of the Gymkhana Horse Club in Miamitown and was a frequent presence at their monthly meetings, horse shows and the annual turkey shoot. He was also a member of Boy Scout Troop 935 in Shandon, Ohio. Whether it was a campout, a service project or the biannual encampment Peterloon, Rob truly enjoyed being involved with the troop. He and Cindy proudly watched as both their sons achieved the highest rank in scouting, that of Eagle Scout.

To his son Sam, Rob passed on his love of classic and sports cars. Together they meticulously designed a custom Corvette that they planned to have built at the GM plant in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Rob was also very passionate about Sam's dream to become a commercial pilot. Together, they travelled from Oshkosh to Tampa for fly-in events. Rob's son Joshua inherited his father's love of hockey and horses. He played for the Butler County Redhawks and they had great fun travelling to tournaments. Joshua recently joined his father as a member of the Gymkhana Horse Club. Although horses have been absent from our farm for a few years, they were in the process of preparing the barn for at least two new occupants.

Rob was a loving husband and father who will be deeply missed by his wife of almost 27 years, his sons, extended family and friends. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, working on his small farm, woodworking, fishing, watching the Cincinnati Reds, shopping at flea markets, and trying his luck at the casinos. He could start a conversation with anyone, and strangers soon became friends. Always a problem solver, Rob was there to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed his expertise which was extensive. His generous spirit, sense of humor, infectious laugh and kindness will be greatly missed by friends and family alike and especially by Cindy, Sam and Joshua who knew and loved him best.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 15 from 4:00p-7:00p at Mihovk-Rosenacker Funeral Home, 5527 Cheviot Rd, Cincinnati, Ohio 45247. Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, July 16 at 11:00am at St. John the Baptist Church (Harrison), 10010 Carolina Trace Road, Harrison, Ohio 45030.

Not sure what to say?

Rob was a great friend and coworker. He was always there to lend a hand and share the knowledge he possessed, but also took the time to talk to people and make sure they were doing ok. I remember how he used to crack jokes to lighten serious situations and also helped me grow in my career. I am forever grateful and will never forget him.

Rob was a good guy my friend we work together many years he will be miss love you Rob

It’s impossible to forget Rob’s constant smile and quick wit. He was a special guy, and will be missed.

Although I never had the pleasure of knowing Rob, his wife, Cindy, is my friend. Her pride in her husband and her sons was evident in every meeting I've ever had with Cindy. It's clear Rob lives on in the memories of his family. My prayers to all until you meet once again in the safe eternal haven of Our Lord's arms.

May your memories of the wonderful times you shared with your loved one comfort you and your family, today and always.

May your memories of the wonderful times you shared with your loved one comfort you and your family, today and always.

I was very shocked and saddened to learn of Rob's sudden passing. I have known him for several years as a co-worker and found him to be dependable, humorous, and tespectful. He will be sorely missed by all that knew him.

Rob's sudden passing is an incalculable loss not just to his family, but to his neighborhood and to everyone he touched. My heart reaches out to Cindy, Sam, and Joshua for this devastating loss. He taught you much, and now you will take that forward with you. The best of him will live on in you.

I am so sorry for Rob’s family’s loss of their wonderful husband, father, and devoted son until his mother’s recent passing. What a fascinating and full life he had with so many interests and talents! A bright light and gift to the world! I’m sure his best traits will live on in Sam and Joshua. Heartfelt condolences for your profound loss. My heart aches for you all.
