Peppler Funeral Home - Allentown Obituary

Robert Thomas Haugstatter, age 87, of Allentown, NJ (formerly Leonardo, NJ) died peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, April 2, 2023.  Bob was born in Brooklyn, NY and was the son of the late John and Alvera Haugstatter.

He is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Pat (Patty as he fondly called her); his children, Eileen (Jim), Robert Jr. (Dina), and Linda; as well as his five grandchildren, Kieran, Lindsay, Brooke, Harley, and Cameron.

Bob served in the National Guard (1953-54) and the US Army (1954-56).  He was a retired Captain of the New York Fire Patrol where he served for 38 years and was well respected by those who worked alongside him.  Bob was also a driver for Academy Bus Company and Lori School Bus Company.  Besides his love for his family and many friends, Bob’s passion was baseball.  He was an avid Yankee fan and played in a Senior Softball League until he was 81 years old; winning two Senior Softball World Series.  Bob and Pat enjoyed traveling around the country for Bob to play in his softball tournaments.

Bob’s family and friends are invited to attend a viewing from 10-11am on Tuesday, April 11th at St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, 1282 Yardville-Allentown Rd., Allentown, NJ.  Mass of Christian Burial to be held following the viewing at 11am at the Church. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Bob’s name to Tunnel to Towers Foundation, 2361 Hylan Boulevard, Staten Island, NY 10306 or at www.t2t.org/donate

Dear Pat, I am so sorry. I only met you and Bob briefly at the Landing but I could see the love between you. May Bob rest in peace and may you find peace within all the memories and love you shared and given to Bob. With sympathy and prayers, Teresa Wells

Bob and Pat were in our close circle of friends for almost twenty years. We shared many good times and will always treasure those memories. He loved his family and loved to dance!

My deepest sympathy to you, Pat, and your family, on the loss of Bob. I am sure Dom was very happy to see him and they surely have a game going on up in heaven. Love you, Pat.
