Robert E. Havens

Ledyard - Robert E. Havens, 83, of Hill St., Ledyard, passed away on Sunday, April 21, 2013, at Fairview in Groton.

He was born on Nov. 5, 1929, in Groton, the son of Harold M. and Marguerite (Harris-Perkins) Havens Sr.

Mr. Havens served in the Army Signal Corps, worked in pipefitting at Electric Boat from 1950 to 1984, retiring as a supervisor, worked from 1966 to 1984 for the U.S. Postal Service, and as Navy Supervisor of Shipbuilding at EB, retiring in 2001.

Byles-Groton Memorial Home, 310 Thames St., is assisting his family with services that are to be private in Starr Hill Cemetery, Groton.
