Not sure what to say?

Bob Heft was planning to be in Dorris, California for the 4th of July 2010, when his 50 Star Flag Design will turn 50 years old; remaining the longest flying flag design in US History. I am a proud member of the Dorris Lions Club and we were responsible for completing a club project in 1996 that we called "America's Tallest Flagpole". It stands at 200' and flys a 30'x60' US Flag twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week (barring unusual weather or mechanical issues).

My sincerest condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Heft. My mother, Etta Bell, and I met Mr. Heft at the 2009 Kentucky State DAR conference in Lexington, KY. Mother felt so privileged to have one of his autographed flags and visit with him after the meeting where he was guest speaker. I am so sorry for your loss.

Deepest sympathy to Mr. Heft's family and friends.
I had the pleasure of meeting and visiting with Bob at the 2009 Kentucky DAR state conference in Lexington where he was a guest speaker. He was a fine gentleman.

I wrote a story on Mr. Heft for the Birch Run/Bridgeport Herald approximately two years ago when he visited the middle school in Birch Run. I was new on the job then and didn't quite realize the magnitude of meeting a man who would go down in our history books. He was kind, gracious and down-to-earth. I will pay tribute to him in my column in the Birch Run/Bridgeport Herald's 12-30 edition. My sympathies to Bob's family and friends. -Mandilee

Dear Members of the Heft family, the Janet and Joseph Turner family of Saginaw, Michigan wish to extend our sincerest sympathies to you. We also wish to extend our sympathies to those of you who knew and cared for Bob Heft. The loss of a loved one always leaves a hole in the heart. We hope, as time passes, that loss will be replaced with some of the wonderful memories Bob left with those of us remaining on this earth. Thanks to each of you who shared your thoughts at the funeral. It was...

I met Mr. Heft at the worlds largest X-mas store, where he autographed two flags for my two boys with the history. This was a man who took time to speak to everyone about history on the 4th of July, the one day everyone remembers our flag and what it means.

I met Mr. Heft at the Staples Copy & Print Center, where he was a wonderful customer to work with. I always enjoyed hearing his stories and seeing his pictures. He made such a unique impact on history, and I always looked forward to seeing him.
Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. Rest in Peace, Mr. Heft.

Thank you so much, Mr. Heft, for visiting HealthSource Saginaw's stroke support group. You'll never know how much we enjoyed the things you shared with us! You're a true treasure!
Till we meet again,
Sherry Tucker

Bob worked at Junior Achievement of NE Michigan in Saginaw for many years and since I am on the JA Board, I got to know him during that time. While he was a humble man regarding his remarkable accomplishments, he had alot to be proud of and he struck me as one who sincerely wanted to help "the kids" learn about economics and patriotism in our great country. We need more people like Bob as role models today. He will be missed.
