Not sure what to say?

My brother just told me about Robert. The news saddened me greatly even though I have not seen very much of you all for lo these many years, I was very fond of Robert

You are all in my prayers

I am so sorry to hear the news of Robert's passing. I was privileged to have been his secretary at LDWF years ago. I admired him greatly. Our loss is heaven's gain where there is no more suffering. My deepest sympathies to his family.

Dear Family,
I attended Northeast with Robert and was part of the girls that always kept up with him...that means; Libby, Sandy, Porkie, Cherwyn, & Carolyn. I'm the one who lives in Arkansas, Terre Green Ware. Robert and I were great friends. Never a sweeter soul was born into this world. His kindness and gentle spirit helped us all through good and bad days at that excitedly stressful and wonderful time of our lives. Although I had not seen Robert in a long time, I have kept up with...

Please accept our sincerest sympathies from all of us who loved Robert. He will be deeply missed on the soccer fields watching Anna.

The Helm Family,
My thoughts and prayers are with you. May your memories bring you comfort in the days to come.

To Robert's family:

I just recently learned of Robert's passing, and I am deeply saddened. I worked with Robert at LDWF in 1997-98, and I had a tremendous respect for him. He was truly one of the kindest people I knew. I pray that you will soon be able to replace your sadness with good memories of happy times. Robert was a true gentlemen, a wonderful human being, and a devout Christian. We were lucky to have known him.

I served on the Mississippi Flyway Council Technical Section for 7 years and had the great pleasure of getting to know Robert. He was the epitome of a southern gentlman, always had a smile on his face and really did have an uncanny ability to find all the good eateries. I admired his ability to 'not sweat the small stuff.' He seemed to always know what was most important in life - God and family, and to live a good life. I will be keeping the entire family in my prayers, and pray that the...

I was fortunate to get to spend time with Robert at Mississippi Flyway meetings. What a gentleman! I can’t think of a better statesman in the flyway. It’s always said that one’s true character shows through during times of challenge. I was amazed by Robert’s calm courage.

I’ll miss Robert's leadership and mentorship. It won’t be the same the next time we have a crawfish boil without Robert there to show us Yankees how it’s done. There will be a void the next time we shoot or...

Saskatchewan, September 2007

I met Robert for the first time about 8 years ago. Before we met, I asked a friend what he could tell me about him. He said "He can teach you a lot about ducks. But more importantly, when it's time to eat, just follow Robert". That advice served me well as Robert had an uncanny ability to sniff out the best local places to eat, no matter where we were in the country.

I had the privledge of watching Robert on a memorable crane hunt in Saskatchewan last fall. You could always see...
