Coach Herring was one the greatest men of my life. Growing up without a father at home he showed how a man should be. Love you Coach.

Roberts family, Great Christian and family man. Taught Character to all of his athlete's. We all thought the world of Coach Herring. He will be missed.

Coach Herring was a great man of integrity and faith. He was a motivator and developer of men. He was not the stereotypical "coach" in that he cared about his players outside of the football field and that they were successful in life. I will never forget when I was working on a research paper about Martin Luther for AP European History and he engaged me in a 30 minute conversation about Luther's work. Robert' s family and my family were best friends as we grew up in Louisville. He was five years older than me and I knew David better because we were closer in age. He taught us swimming lessons and I watched him play on probably the best basketball team we ever had. Robert had such an outgoing personality and always kept us laughing.
