Hamlin-Hansen-Kosloski Funeral Home - Moose Lake Obituary

Robert “Bob” Hoffmann, 60, Sturgeon Lake, died unexpectedly on Saturday, May 4, 2024 at his home.  He was born on May 29, 1963 in New Hope to John (Jack) and Rose Hoffmann.  Bob attended St. Raphael’s Catholic School and later Totino Grace High School where he graduated in 1981.  He attended college at North Hennepin, college in Moorhead, and later St. Cloud State University where he attained a degree in Graphic Design.  On May 5, 1990, Bob married Gloria Appicelli in Barnum.  Bob worked in the family hardware business while in high school in Golden Valley and after college started the family hardware store in Barnum and later in Moose Lake.  He truly was the “Go To” man that was extremely handy and would go that extra mile to help that customer in need or offer some great helpful tips to complete a project.   His desire to help also extended to the Moose Lake Fire Department where he passionately served for over 26 years and to the Moose Lake Hockey Association where he served as a coach for his kids and many others.  He volunteered many hours at the rink doing “Learn to skate” coaching and flooding the outdoor rinks.  All this lead to him  earning the Earl Ellens Award for his dedication to the program.  Bob also loved to play Softball on Monday Nights for ETC.  He played for years and loved the team especially being able to play with his boys.   He loved hunting in ND, fishing in Canada, gardening, and keeping up the family pool.  One of his greatest loves was being with his family and he was an extremely proud Grandpa.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents: John “Jack” and Rose Hoffmann.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 34 years: Gloria; three children: Hayden (Meghan Ryan) Hoffmann; Tyler (Katie) Hoffmann; and Hayley (Zebulon) Harju; six grandchildren: Sawyer, Nathan, Joseph, Henry, Warren, and Eleanor; 7 siblings: David (Nancy) Hoffmann; Kathleen Hinds; John (Joanne) Hoffmann; Rita (Terry) Bloom; Dale (Karel) Hoffmann; Margaret (Patrick) Hageman; and Ann (Timothy) Kraemer; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Rachel Appicelli; Steve (Kim) Appicelli; Tom (Rita) Appicelli; John (Bridgette) Appicelli; Paul (Heidi) Appicelli; Christine Metetich; Mary (Dave) Patten; and Phil (Dawn) Appicelli; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

A Gathering of Family and Friends will be from 1 pm until the 3 pm Celebration of Life on Saturday, May 11, 2024 at the Moose Lake Fire Hall, 600 Hwy 73, Moose Lake.

Arrangements by Hamlin-Hansen-Kosloski Funeral Home, Moose Lake.

Not sure what to say?

I am so sorry for your loss Gloria and Family, Bob's obituary sums it up perfectly and i need not add anything more, except sometimes a jokester, will miss him

When we learned of Bob's passing everyone said what a nice, kind man he was - and he sure was. We always looked forward to talking to Bob at the store, and sharing our popcorn. He will be missed by so many. Thinking of all of you, Tom & Jan Deering

Cluster of 50 Trees

Single Tree

My wife Jackie and I were both classmates of Bob at Totino Grace High School class of 81. We shared many wonderful memories of time spent with Bob and other friends. We purchased a property up in Sturgeon Lake in 2017 and have been in the Moose Lake Ace Hardware store many times! We are so saddened to hear of this and our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this time. GOD be with you Bob!

Rita, So very sorry for your loss. May God's loving arms encompass your family at this difficult time.

Cluster of 50 Trees

Margaret, my condolences to you and to your family. It's hard losing a loved one, especially when it's unexpected.
When I lost a loved one, I found it helpful to remember some of the good memories.
Perhaps, you can do the same.

Prayers
Your classmate from Grace High School,
Mary Hofhenke Norman
