Not sure what to say?

I just ran across some memories from my CMU dance class up at Beaver Island Michigan way back in the 80s. I had the pleasure of learning how to square dance with Bob Howell as the caller. Barb was one of the best teachers they ever met in my life and I became a teacher and can still claim that after hundreds that I worked with. He was charming, informative, easy-going, yet firm in his instruction. I realize it has been several years since Bob has passed, but I couldn´t resist giving a...

Dear Mrs. Howell, Jan, Jim and your families,
Mr. Howell was a specail man. He was not only my dear friend's dad but also treated me like a daughter and was there so many times when I needed help. He was my boss in day camp and the Howell family always made me feel at home when I was with them. A wonderful family man, I know he will be missed by all. My love and thoughts are with you.

Dear Phyllis and family,
I was saddened to hear of Bob's passing. Another part of my childhood has gone away, but he will always be remembered in a very good way.
Bob was my Scout Master in Troop 350 in the late 1960's. He encouraged all of us to find our goals and strive to reach them. That is probably why there were so many Eagle Scouts in Troop 350 at that time. The lessons learned in scouting so long ago are still with me today. Thank you Mr Howell.

Bob was an outstanding human being,But also a true professional when dealing with his staff at Monticello Jr. High. My husband Richard Nalepka had the privilege of working under the leadership of Bob Howell.

I first was introduced to square dancing with my first wife by Bob 28 years ago. It was the BEST time that we had. I'll never forget those times. Thanks Bob for all the memories. My thoughs and prayers are to the Howell family

As a 27-year member of Suburban Ski Club, I had the privilege of attending many square dances called by Bob, as we used to schedule one every year. His energy and wit were inspiring. And he was a skier, too!
My condolences to his family; I know his passing is a great loss.

Our deepest sympathy to the Howell Family. My brother and I attended Monticello Jr. High where Bob was our principal (in the early 70's). We also remember seeing him at parties as a caller for square dancing. He still remembered us and always had a warm smile. He will be missed.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Mr. Howell was assistant principal when I was at Wiley --1959-61. He could hand out discipline with a smile, and that is a real art when dealing with teens.I knew him during the Monticello years as well, and of course enjoyed Campfire Girls square dances with our daughter where Bob did the calling. How wonderful that he did the things he loved for so long.
