CDR. Robert L. Howell, USN Ret. CHARLESTON - CDR. Robert L. Howell, US Navy, Ret. died March 19, 2012. CDR. Howell was born in Minden, LA. on April 23, 1936. He lived in Charleston, SC for the past 38 years and served in the US Navy for 28 years. Following his military service, CDR Howell was employed at the Citadel for 17 years. He was also a member of the Elk's Lodge of Charleston. He is survived by his wife, Ada M. Howell; a daughter, Alicia H. Moss and her husband, Dean T. Moss; a son, Rodney L. Howell, and his loving dogs Olivia and Otis. The family will receive friends this Wednesday evening from 5:00 PM until7:00 PM at the James A. McAlister Funeral Home, 1620 Savannah Hwy. The relatives and friends of CDR. and Mrs. Robert L. Howell are invited to attend his Funeral Service with military honors at 2:00 PM, Thursday, March 22, 2012, at Beaufort National Cemetery, 1601 Boundary St., Beaufort, SC 29902. No flowers, please. Butch and I want to say how much we loved Bob. He was a joy to be around and we truly enjoyed all the years of bowling on the same league. Bob will be missed and know that he is now at peace and looking upon all of us.
