Robert Huebel Obituary
Robert (Bob) Huebel, 85, passed away Oct. 9, 2011 at his home in Houston surrounded by his family following a brief but courageous battle with cancer.
Robert Rudolph Huebel was born in Fayette County TX on July 28, 1926. He served in the US Navy during WWII on the submarine tender USS Sperry. On December 18, 1946 he married Verlin Krebs in Houston. He worked for the Carnation Milk Co. for 40 years until his retirement in 1988. Robert was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church, SPJST Lodge 88, and Po.L.K. of A. of Houston.
Robert is survived by his wife of 64 years Verlin Huebel; son Robert Ray & wife Dorothy of Sugar Land; son Rodney & wife Rachel of Houston; daughter Risa & husband Bill Powers of Cypress; grandchildren Stephanie Granito & husband Scott of Houston, Bobby Huebel & wife Adrienne of Pasadena, CA, Clint Huebel of Houston, Bret & Zach Powers of Cypress; sister Mary Jane & husband Curtis Oltmann of Warrenton; brothers- in- law Roy Krebs & Glenn Krebs & wife Connie of Houston, & numerous nieces, nephews, cousins & friends.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents Robert F. & Mathilda Huebel, brother Clinton Huebel & wife Dolores, sister Dorothy Kieke, infant twin grandsons Nicholas & Christopher Huebel, father- & mother-in-law Helmuth & Martha Kelm Krebs, brother-in-law Lee Krebs, sister-in-law Vernice Krebs & nephews Chuck & Glenn Ray Krebs.
The family will receive friends & relatives at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, 13001 Katy Freeway on Wednesday October 12 from 5 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Memorial Oaks on Thursday, October 13 at 10 a.m.
A special thanks to Laurie Yarborough for her love, care, compassion & support to Robert and Verlin during this difficult time.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Cancer Society.
