Not sure what to say?

I never heard back on any services in New Jersey. I truly miss my talks with Bob. He was a great person and I was honored to call him my friend. Bob you are missed and thought of often. Until we meet again my friend. Mike

Bob was my best friend during high school, college and the years immediately after. It may sound trite, but there was only one Bob Hughey - his attributes beautifully captured in this obituary. He was independent, fair-minded, intelligent, fearless, and helpful with his sarcastic wit and ever-present sense of humor always at hand. My memories of our countless escapades/adventures continue to brighten my day. Linda, Maggie, Matt and the rest of his family have my sympathy.

From my first college professor at Stockton in 1974, where he asked me that all important question, "do I know anybody in the trades", to lifelong beach buddy on Osborne Avenue, Bob will be sorely missed. After getting elected to the School Board in 1995 the first person I sought out was Bob. So when we both stopped laughing at the situation, Bob schooled me on how to be a respectable person on the Board. May he Rest In Peace PS. I take a dip for you Joe Toland

It was a privilege to be a participant in round table discussions about farming and environmental policy with Bob when he was DEP commissioner . It was arranged via Ag Secretary Art Brown , a fellow Atlantic County leader with Bob . These memorial accolades are well-earned . His life and professional contributions should be an inspiration to us all .

I missed the very well written and spot-on obituary in the AC Press -- and surely miss Bob. When he was NJ DEP Commissioner, I was Deputy Chief of Staff and the liaison to cabinet members. It was the early days of the Superfund program and Bob and his staff aggressively identified many old hazardous waste sites, including abandoned industrial buildings, to propose for listing so New Jersey could take advantage of available federal funding to remediate them. Time after time, I worked with Bob...

What a perfect summation of Bob's character. It was always a pleasure to be in his presence. Sincerest condolences to Linda, Maggie, Matt and family: your loss is shared by all who knew him.

Bob was one of my professors at Stockton as part of a renowned political science department. He inspired my pursuit of a career in government along with Joe Walsh, Bill Sensiba, Jan Colijn, Chick Yeager, Bill Daly. I wanted to work for Bob at NJDEP so that I would not have to wear a tie or ride in helicopters, two things he swore he wouldn't do. My condolences to his family, friends and colleagues.

Bob was a "mensch" and one fine gentleman. He knew how to get things done and cast a big shadow everywhere he went. My condolences to his entire family.

Prayers and condolences to the entire Hughey Family. Bob was always a first class dad with total professionalsism. I appreciated having Matt being part of our football program. God Bless You!
