Robert Lombard Hunt

A great friend, swimmer, & card sharp.

Bob Hunt, or as his Illinois swim teammates affectionately called him, Mike, was a hard working leader for his team. At practice or in a meet, he gave his all! Many fun memories of our team captain.
I lost contact with him until he surprised everyone by showing up for a reunion in Champaign, IL about 5 to 10 years ago. He even brought T-shirts for his former teammates with "Red Balls" printed inside a big red ball on the shirt. (Only those teammates of the 1957-59 era will understand and...

Very sad to hear of Bob's death. He & I were fraternity brothers at U. of Illinois, and played many a game of cards - bridge, hearts, buck euchre, & Oh Hell. We also swam as jocks on the swimming team.
He was a masterful practical joker and once suckered me into attending a non-existent event, (requiring formal wear), for which he manufactured a very believable crested invitation.
With a straight face, he could convince you of almost anything.
A wonderful person...

RL was a clever, witty, straight talking man who will be missed by all those of us who were fortunate enough to have been able to call him friend. RIP.
