SCARBOROUGH, MAINE. Robert B. Hurley, Ph.D., a longtime resident of Peaks Island, passed away peacefully on September 7, 2024. He was 91. A retired college professor with a quick wit and offbeat sense of humor, Bob lived a long, happy and impactful life...

Not sure what to say?

Oohhh Bob! I worked with him at Seton Hall! When he left the Counseling center he agreed to keep supervising my clients. I was also in the Doctoral program the at SHU. He was a good guy - dry humor matched mine. We had good laughs and good discussions about clients and theory models to work out of-he gave me my first! A intelligent man by far. I missed him when he left. Blessings to Connie and all his family. You led with your heart Bob. Rest easy

I remember the joy on Bob's Face when he led the Indiana University Marching Band on the floor of Madison Garden at the Big East Tournament.
Truly a Man for all Seasons.

To the Hurley Family,

Please accept my sincere condolences on Bob's passing, he was legendary man and my memories of him from my travels to Peaks Island with the Bob Campbell family will always have special meaning to me. Connie & Bob were an extraordinary couple and are example of how life should be well lived with a great family, friends and a ton of laughter. Sorry to not be there in person, but you will all get through this and celebrate Bob in your own special ways and I am...

My contact with Bob was limited to friendly yet casual exchanges waiting for the boat, sitting on the boat or coming in or out of Hannigan's; what a kind soul. Reading his thoughtful and loving obituary says it all. How blessed are those who have known him far better. I send my condolences for your huge loss.

Such great memories of Bob back in the 80’s. A witty and kind gentleman. My condolences to you all. The world is a poorer place without him.

In loving memory of a wonderful person. I will always remember our Peaks visit with the kindest, fun loving man. It was an honor to have known him. Love and blessings to you Connie and your family. Evy Lynch

Dr. Hurley's legacy starts with being a shining example of "family first". While his academic journey and professorship at Seton Hall is impressive, stating he was dedicated to his family is an understatement. A true devotee of his beloved Big East, which filtered down, and I'm certain will be a proud tradition carried on for many years. He was approachable, funny and welcoming which also was passed down to all the children.

My deepest condolences to Mrs. Hurley, Kathy, Ellen,...

What an incredible life. May his memory be eternal. Lots of love and hugs to you all. The Hauck Family

What a beautiful obituary for an extraordinary man. All who knew him, loved this man.
Cherish your memories and may they be a blessing.
