Robert Wareing Ikard, age 57, of Dallas, Texas, died Saturday, July 20th, 2024.
He was born on January 7, 1967, in Las Cruces, New Mexico, the son of James
Lynn Ikard and Gloria Jeanette (Aguirre) Ikard.
Robert was a graduate of Mayfield High School in Las Cruces, NM. He then
went on to earn degrees from St. Edward's University in Austin, TX,
graduating Magna Cum Laude with a BBA in Marketing. Subsequently, he
received a Juris Doctor of Law degree from The University of Tulsa College of
Law. He pursued further education at the SMU Dedman School of Law
towards a Masters of Law in Taxation. On June 22nd, 1991, he married Suzanne Irene Cox at First Presbyterian Church in LaGrange, TX. They were blessed with five beautiful children.
Robert practiced law in Las Cruces for 15 years and was elected Vice President
of the Dona Ana County Attorney Bar Association. He later moved with his
family to Naples, FL, where for 8 years he excelled as a builder and developer,
earning the State of Florida Highest Honor Award for Outstanding Property
Rehabilitation in Newberry, FL. In 2014, Robert and his family relocated to
Dallas, TX. In recent years, he served as Vice President of property
management and leasing at Jim Lake Companies. He was also a podcast host
and a published author on LinkedIn.
In his spare time, Robert enjoyed being with his family, friends, and dogs. He
achieved a black belt in Taekwondo, sang in the St. Monica Catholic Church
Choir, and delighted in music and reading. He often appeared happiest in
photos with one of his beloved dogs in his lap. Robert was dedicated to his
Catholic faith and family and also cherished long walks and gardening. He
was a devoted husband and father, admired for instilling a strong work ethic
in his children and supporting others in their successes. He was the finest
husband and father anyone could ask for. His interests included movies,
Mexican food, fishing, RVing, and politics.

He enjoyed life, a good laugh and joke, and an occasional drink; we, along with other lawyers would have a drink/beer after a day’s work. Most importantly, he loved his family. I only have joyful memories of my childhood friend, Robert. I've spent the last 24 hours recalling so many good times we shared together when we were teenagers. His laugh was infectious, and he had the most wicked sense of humor. There was never a dull moment when Robert was around, and it appears that he lived his entire life that way. My sincere condolences to his wife, children, family and friends.
