Baca's Funeral Chapels - Las Cruces Obituary

Robert Wareing Ikard, age 57, of Dallas, Texas, died Saturday, July 20th, 2024.

He was born on January 7, 1967, in Las Cruces, New Mexico, the son of James

Lynn Ikard and Gloria Jeanette (Aguirre) Ikard.

Robert was a graduate of Mayfield High School in Las Cruces, NM. He then

went on to earn degrees from St. Edward's University in Austin, TX,

graduating Magna Cum Laude with a BBA in Marketing. Subsequently, he

received a Juris Doctor of Law degree from The University of Tulsa College of

Law. He pursued further education at the SMU Dedman School of Law

towards a Masters of Law in Taxation. On June 22nd, 1991, he married Suzanne Irene Cox at First Presbyterian Church in LaGrange, TX. They were blessed with five beautiful children.

Robert practiced law in Las Cruces for 15 years and was elected Vice President

of the Dona Ana County Attorney Bar Association. He later moved with his

family to Naples, FL, where for 8 years he excelled as a builder and developer,

earning the State of Florida Highest Honor Award for Outstanding Property

Rehabilitation in Newberry, FL. In 2014, Robert and his family relocated to

Dallas, TX. In recent years, he served as Vice President of property

management and leasing at Jim Lake Companies. He was also a podcast host

and a published author on LinkedIn.

In his spare time, Robert enjoyed being with his family, friends, and dogs. He

achieved a black belt in Taekwondo, sang in the St. Monica Catholic Church

Choir, and delighted in music and reading. He often appeared happiest in

photos with one of his beloved dogs in his lap. Robert was dedicated to his

Catholic faith and family and also cherished long walks and gardening. He

was a devoted husband and father, admired for instilling a strong work ethic

in his children and supporting others in their successes. He was the finest

husband and father anyone could ask for. His interests included movies,

Mexican food, fishing, RVing, and politics.

Not sure what to say?

I knew Robert as a fellow attorney when he practiced here in Las Cruces. He enjoyed life, a good laugh and joke, and an occasional drink; we, along with other lawyers would have a drink/beer after a day’s work. Most importantly, he loved his family. My condolences to Suzanne and family. May Robert RIP.

Ikard Family,
My deepest condolence's for the great loss of Mr. Robert Ikard. He was a very nice, quite and soft spoken person. May friend's and family bring you all comfort during this time of deep sorrow. Peace be with you all.

I only have joyful memories of my childhood friend, Robert. I've spent the last 24 hours recalling so many good times we shared together when we were teenagers. His laugh was infectious, and he had the most wicked sense of humor. There was never a dull moment when Robert was around, and it appears that he lived his entire life that way. My sincere condolences to his wife, children, family and friends.

Way to young to leave this earth. So many great memories as kids growing up and terrorizing LC. and the lake. RIP my Friend

Dear Dad, thank you for raising me into the man I am today and teaching my siblings and I the right values and a great work ethic. Age 57 is far too early for you to leave, but we know you’re watching down on us from paradise and are with us in spirit. I will be sure to continue on your legacy and promise not to let you down. Will never forget all the experiences we shared from fishing, RV trips, watching movies and sports, listening to music/going to concerts, getting our blackbelts in...

So sad. Rest in peace friend.
