Robert J. Irmen

Robert J. Irmen, 73, of Burr Ridge, Illinois, a packaging industry consultant, passed away at his home on Tuesday, April 20, 1999.

Mr. Irmen was born on February 19, 1926, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. At the age of 17, he joined the U.S. Marine Corps and fought in four theaters of operation during World War II. He graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in 1950 and attended the MBA program at the University of Chicago in the 1970s.

He was the President of Robert J. Irmen Associates of Elk Grove Village, Illinois, and had served the packaging industry for 30 years. “Mr. Irmen traveled extensively throughout the world as a consultant to the packaging industry,” said his wife, Mrs. Jo V. Irmen.

A 30-year resident of Burr Ridge, Mr. Irmen maintained an interest in travel, current events, and politics. The later interest was close to home, as his wife is the current Village President for Burr Ridge. He was also a member of the Community Presbyterian Church in Clarendon Hills, Illinois.

He was the beloved husband of Jo V. Irmen; the loving father of Lorelei (Richard) Davidson of Sheridan, Illinois, Elizabeth Irmen of Burr Ridge, and Robert S. Irmen of Burr Ridge; the fond grandfather of Jessica, Matthew, and Heather Davidson; and the dear brother of Elsa Saville of Oakland, California.
