Robert Lee “Bob” Jacobs, age 65, of Hepzibah, departed this life Friday, February 26, 2004 at the Clarksburg Continuous Care following an extended illness. He was born December 19, 1938 in Hepzibah, West Virginia, a son of the late Willie Ray Jacobs and Janie Dean Jacobs.
Surviving are two sons, Robert Jacobs Jr. of Hendersville, North Carolina, and Scott Jacobs of West Union. Three sisters, Rosella Deal of Ozark, Alabama; Betty DeMali of Mogadore, Ohio; and Eva DeWitt of Spelter, West Virginia. One brother, Bill Jacobs of Hepzibah. Four grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Jacobs was preceded in death by one son, Stephen Jacobs, and one brother, Eugene Jacobs.
Mr. Jacobs was a member of the National Guard, having retired as a Heavy Equipment Operator. He was well known for being a great guitar artist where he played with artists such as Dottie West, Merle Haggard, George Hamilton IV, Glen Campbell, Louvin Brothers, and locally with the Jim Bunch Band and Stanley O’Dell Band. He was Protestant by Faith.
Family and friends will be received at the Davis Funeral Home, One Olen Thomas Drive, Rt. 98 Clarksburg / Nutter Fort, on Sunday from 6-8 PM and on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM where funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 AM with Reverend Joe Bradshaw presiding.
