Broomhead Funeral Home - Riverton Obituary

Our loving father, born July 12, 1938, to Virgil and Ruth Jacobsen. Robert Nephi Jacobsen fondly known to others as Bob/Bobbie passed away at 83 on November 3, 2021, in his home in West Jordan.

Bob was born the oldest of 5 children including himself were his siblings, Ronnie, Margie, Kathy, and Keith.

Bob attended West High where he also met and married Joan Driggs and had 3 children, Dennis, Doug and Candie (Cheri).

He later went on to marry the love of his life Christine (Tena) Barbara Babbel in 1964 and together they had 3 children, Kimberlee, Karlie, and Kevin. Bob and Tena were happily married 42 years until her passing in 2006. There has not been a day since her passing that he has stopped longing to be together with her again.

Bob spent 12 years serving our country in the U.S. Army. He worked construction but ultimately retired as a long-haul truck driver.

He was old fashioned and set in his ways. He was the gentle giant. To those who didn't know him he could be terrifying, but he was a very kind soul.  He was generous to a fault and would give you the shirt off his back. He would go out of his way to help anyone in need.

He was life’s best teacher. Whether you wanted to be taught the lesson or not, he would teach.  He always had advice to give.

Bob loved the outdoors and loved to spend time with Tena and his children and grandchildren hunting, fishing, camping, and vacationing. He loved watching sports. He loved watching his kids and grandkids play sports. His favorite teams were the Jazz, BYU and Utah and loved the Denver Broncos.

Family was everything to Bob. Tena was his whole heart till the end and forever. His kids and grandkids were his whole life. He often seemed like a gruff man but loved his family with his entire being. Bob will be missed by everyone who came into his life. He was a special soul, and the world was a better place with him in it.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents Virgil and Ruth. Siblings Ronnie, Kathy and Keith, son Doug and his granddaughter Kami and great granddaughters Kira and Anna. He was also proceeded in death by his loving wife Tena and will now be happily reunited again forever.

Bob is survived by son Dennis (Maryann) Jacobsen, daughter Cheri (Brian) Pearson, daughter Kimberlee (JD) Miller, daughter Karlie Werner, son Kevin (Wendy) Jacobsen.

26 grandchildren, 56 great grandchildren, 3 great greatgrandchild, 1 grand dog

Not sure what to say?

I had the opportunity to serve with Bob in my stake calling and I have fond memories of making visits with him in the third ward years ago. I will miss seeing him on Sunday. He was always so gracious when greeting me and told me how glad he was to see me. Even with physical challenges later in life, Bob was a faithful servant of the Lord and had a very charitable heart. I pray for blessings of peace and comfort for his family during this tender time.

My thoughts and prayers for Bob's family.

I will miss bob i give him rides to church every sunday for the last year or so thank you my freind chris

I will miss our little talks when we see each other, his sweet smile and our hugs. He was always my strength when I was down.

So sad to hear of the passing of my dear friend Bob. I will always cherish the time we spent serving in the temple together. I remember with fondness our visits to widows who were home bound to do temple recommend interviews. He would set them up and then notify me at church or a phone call as to when they were. We had so many good visits serving the Lord together. Bob is one of my personal heroes. I love him dearly. I know he is healthy and happy now and with his sweetheart and many...

He truly cared. I will miss him and our talks on Sunday. He is a great man and so glad I was able to serve with him in our ward.
