Raleigh, North Carolina - Robert Edward "Ed" Johnson passed away on May 8, 2022 in Cary, NC.
Ed was born in Trezevant, Tennessee, March 24, 1925 to Edward and Mary Johnson.
After serving his country in the United States Air Force during World War II, he graduated from his beloved University of Tennessee in Knoxville. On almost any day his television would be tuned to the S.E.C. Channel so he could watch anything Vols.
Ed was proceeded in death by his wife, Constance G. Johnson; Brother, Joe Johnson of Huntsville, Alabama; and sister, Mary Nell Hamilton of Dyersburg, Tennessee.
Ed is survived by his daughter, Jodi Wainright and husband Bruce of Raleigh, North Carolina; Stepson, Gregory McSwain of Houston, Texas; Grandson, Evan R. McSwain also of Houston, Texas; and dear friend, Billie Jo Brown of Cary, North Carolina; as well as many friends from North Ridge Country Club and his brothers and sisters in Christ at Walnut Street Church of Christ in Cary, North Carolina.
Visitation will be held on Thursday May 19, 2022 from 4:00 - 6:00 PM at Brown Wynne Funeral Home, 1701 E. Millbrook Rd, Raleigh, NC, 27609. Memorial services will be held Saturday, May 21, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Walnut Street Church of Christ, 277 Walnut St, Cary, NC, 27511 with a private burial to follow at Raleigh Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or North Carolina Heart Association.
