Not sure what to say?

We just discovered Bob's obituary because of searching out if they were still in Ohio. We will be attending a conference in Columbus and thought we'd look he and Norma up for a visit. Bob and Norma were friends during our 'courtship' and Bob performed our ceremony at St. Mark's Lutheran Church on April 21, 1960. We had a lot of fun in our younger years together and we still have a sculpture from an old Indiana sculpterer that Bob & Norma took us to see when we visited them. Tho our paths...

Dear Friends and Family of Rev. Robert Karsten,
I have thought of Pastor Bob often, over the years. He was the first one who ever took me up in an airplane. He had just gotten his pilot's license and I was a teenager, in Wichita, KS, at home pulling weeds in our back yard when Pastor Bob came around the corner and said, "Hey, Steve, want to go flying?" That afternoon I went for my first flight with Pastor Bob at the controls of a Piper Tri-Pacer! Several years later I became an Air...

Dean Karsten lived the liberal arts tradition, fostering curricular innovation and encouraging personal and institutional connections that sustained holistic growth. I am grateful for knowing him at Gustavus Adolphus College, and for his subsequent paths.

One of a kind. A great teacher and mentor. A man of great vision and passion.

Robert was a colleague at Gustavus Adolphus College. Over his nine year tenure he provided stellar leadership on a number of fronts. A great churchman, he served the local community in exemplary fashion.

Pastor Karsten was a teacher, friend and a mentor to me during my years at Wittenberg(1966-70). He was an inspiration. Throughout his life, he lived Wittenberg's motto: Having Light, We Pass It On To Others"; he did that in so many ways and to so many people. He has earned a special place in Heaven.

Bob was a great internship supervisor at Wittenberg. He preached at my ordination. He was fun to work with and a great churchman to learn from.

Bob was truly our guardian angel leading The Wellington School through early difficult times - a friend, mentor, leader and ever the raconteur! Columbus families are most thankful his sharing of his time and talent! Forever Grateful, Bob and Barbie Holland

So grateful for his life with us at Gustavus. He loved us so well.
