Dear Kelly Family,
It was with deep sadness that I learned that VA Tech had lost one of her finest. I was a student in the early 80's and Dr. Kelly had great patience with novices such as me. I tell the stories of Meats lab still after all these years. I remember with great fondness the joy that Dr. Kelly seemed to radiate. There was no doubt that he loved to teach and we were all blessed to be his students. You are all in my thoughts and prayers. We have lost a truly wonderful...

To the family of Dr. Kelly,
I have so many fond memories of Dr. Kelly and the meat judging team at VA Tech in the late 1980's..... driving through rush hour traffic in Houston TX to practice at a beef plant, many early Saturday hours of judging practice in cold lockers, and loads of fun wherever he took us. He was a favorite professor and will be so dearly missed by all.
Accept my heartfelt condolences.

Kellys--my dear friends. My sorrow for you and myself is so great. The memories of all our shared times are such treasures. From when I was a young sprout and called Bob "half-hair" because of his buzz cut until our summer get-togethers when you came to Wisconsin to do geneology research, our times together were so much fun. The time we brought our grandson, Pat, along when we visited Shadow Lake was one of the best. Bob always felt he had to entertain us when we were there. That particular...

I am home in Heaven, dear ones;
Oh, so happy and so bright!
There is perfect joy and beauty
In this everlasting light.
All the pain and grief is over,
Every restless tossing passed;
I am now at peace forever,
Safely home in Heaven at last.
Did you wonder I so calmly
Trod the valley of the shade?
Oh! but Jesus' arm to lean on,
Could I have one doubt or dread?
Then you must not grieve so sorely,
For I love you dearly still;
Try to look...

It is with sadness that I learned of Dr. Kelly's passing. As a student of his in the early '80s, I remember well wonderfull evenings after Meats Lab "Cleaning Up" with Doc, Leon and Wendy and playing knock rummy. He was a true asset to VPI&SU and his legacy will live on in thos of us he touched with his warmth and knowledge.

To the family of Dr Kelly,
What an awesome individual! He will be missed by so many and our thoughts and prayers are with the family. He was my professor in the 80's and meat judging coach. He taught me to enjoy what I do and believe in who I am. I spent many hours in the meat lab with him and learned so much. There are many fond memories and stories I have of Doc and so enjoyed the stories that he told. He gave so much to every student and never asked for anything in return. God Bless.
