Robert S. Kievit

KIEVIT Robert S., previously of Ridgewood, NJ, passed away Wednesday morning, December 5, 2007 at Saratoga Hospital following a long illness. He was 83. Born on September 19, 1924 in Paterson, New Jersey, he is the son of the late Charles and Grace DeYoung Kievit. He served in the United States Army during World War II. He then attended Rutgers University, graduating in 1948. Robert worked in the insurance industry and purchased Potter, Stevens and Kievit Insurance Agency in Oakland, New Jersey. He retired in 1998 and moved to Saratoga Springs, NY where he enjoyed golfing, the racetrack and gardening. He is survived by his loving wife Bertha Duval Kievit of Saratoga Springs, one daughter, Margaret Sfraga and her husband Philip of Wayne, New Jersey, one son, William Kievit and his wife Kristin of Farmington, Ct., a brother, Donald C. Kievit of Florida, five grandchildren, Stephanie and Mary Beth Sfraga, Robert, Alison and Amy Kievit. Funeral services will be held at 11AM on Saturday, December 8, at the William J. Burke and Sons/Bussing and Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway (518-584-5373). Burial will be private.
