Not sure what to say?

I was a 1999 graduate of Elms College and Mr. King was my favorite professor. I was an English major but I joked that technically, I minored in Mr. King. If he taught it, I took it. He was invested in his students actually learning, thinking, and discussing. He was quick with a one-liner and always available for help. He had high standards and expectations, which I loved. I´m so sad he is gone. I thought of him so much over the years.

CT, RT, and RM: they were indeed his books! He was a professor in Western Mass for over 50 years, and we've recently started going through and selling his books. I'm his daughter, Lisa, and am very glad that you found him.

We bought some books (The Politics of Irish Drama and Shakespeares political drama) at a used bookstore in western mass that had annotations in them and found his name as well as page numbers and the word ethos. We were confused what this meant, as he is not the author of either of them and was not mentioned from what we could see, so we looked it up and figured out the connection. We wanted to contact him or something, but saw this obituary and were confused. I guess he was very well read!...

I´m so sorry for your loss. Dr. King worked with my dad at Elms College. They were good friends. Thinking of you all. Ruthann (Halpin) Fitzgibbons

Bob requested that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Massachusetts Children´s Alliance, 11 Beacon Street, Suite 321, Boston, MA 02108, machildrensalliance.org.

Bob King was professor par excellence! He taught me everything I know and appreciate about Shakespeare and Irish playwrights! My sincere condolences to the King family. Laura Finn-Heafey Elms G. `11

I offer my deepest condolences to Bob´s family. Bob brought excellence in his field and unwavering participation with his Elms colleagues in maintaining high academic standards for our students. My prayers are for Bob´s eternal rest and the consolation of those who will sorely miss his presence.

I taught at Elms during the last few years of Bob King's time there. He loved Elms and he loved literature and theater. We talked about Ireland, theater, and Aristotle. You never had to hold anything back. I only wish we had more time together. He invited me as a guest for a senior seminar and we stopped each other often in the hallway. With someone so great, it will never be enough. You could depend on King to direct us back to fundamental educational and professional principles....

To the King family and friends. I want to give a huge God Bless to you all starting with my Aunt Connie and out from there. Bob was just very cool and funny not to mention he is Brilliant and Charming. He was a Super Uncle and I Love Bob and Connie and all so much. Peace to you all. David Brinelle Mention Brilliant
