Not sure what to say?

I worked for Robert every Saturday while at High Mowing. Must have been 1983. Took over for Tasha Urbanowski doing the dishes, machines and cleaning the floor. Robert showed me how to scrape the dried dough off every tile, then mop and dry. At the end of his12 hour day, Robert was still kind and patient while I scrambled to get everything done as best as I could and still he sent me home with boxes of leftovers. It was my first job and he was the best boss ever. So kind, so enthusiastic...

My deepest condolences to Roberts family. I loved going to the bakery and loved eating anything Robert baked. He was always very kind and a gentleman.

Our first memories of Robert came to us in a freshly baked and still warm!...whole wheat loaf of bread that Judith, myself and our 4 children would `devour´,... literally in minutes..., slathered in raw butter that only minutes earlier, we had picked up at his UK "Kernel Bakery". Oh My!!! (I can still almost taste and smell it even to this day!) But it was my (our) building of the bakery for him in Peterborough that truly cemented our friendship. How many cheese danish, cups of...

I taught at Pine Hill for 19 years. Robert and family were a big part of the community. After I finished my first class, I had a sabbatical year, and one of the things I decided to do was to go and bake with Robert. I had to show up at 2:30 am and it was a lot of work from then until the loaves were in the oven. But the conversation was just as lively; Robert talked easily about almost any topic. I worked til about 11 and the day was finished! Wonderful day. Wonderful guy. We all ate his...

Robyn Hewetson I knew Robert from early days at Emerson, then over 20 years in Peterborough. He was a dear friend and a fine member of our community. Rest well Robert, you are loved by so many

Biographies are written throughout one´s life and then for an eternity thereafter. There is much to say about Robert and my contribution is that he was a very good man. I used to stop by the Kernel Bakery a few times a week to pick up some treats for the office and bread for the home. But, mostly to check in with Robert and Janet. I adored them both. Lots of sage and observational wisdom shared over many cups of coffee. Best yet is he´d see me coming to the door and start a fresh pot of...

Rest in peace Robert. I gave him weekly trombone lessons for about 15 years, rain, snow, or shine. In addition to monetary payment, he always gave us a weeks supply of bread, bear claws and whatever else he had on hand. My wife, kids and I loved his baked goods and his generosity. Sad to hear of his passing. Condolences to his family.

I am a person that often struggles with the bad parts of humanity and Robert was an absolute light in the dark. I will miss his little giggle and his deep insights and, of course, the Christmas cookies. I am eternally grateful that he loved my friend Kim, who deserves all the love there is, and that she loved him in return. Robert brought a little magic to life, I think. And he´s irreplaceable.
