I did not work directly for LtCol Koontz (then Major) while with MAG-15. I did have a chance to work for him on some legal investigations and saw a dedicated, tough and passionate officer. He had the respect of his men and they in turn would do anything for him - the test of a true Marine Officer.
My thoughts and prayers to his family. He will be truly missed.

I served under Lt/Col Koontz (then Major) from 1/1/1965 to 10/8/1967, with MAG-15 Group Supply also. He was in-deed a great guy. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends during this time of loss. Semper Fi, Col. Knootz.

I served under Lt/Col Koontz (then Major)from 1966-67 with MAG-15 Group Supply. He was the best C.O. I had in the Corps. If you did your job, he took care of you. He was a fine man and I will always cherish my memories of him. Please accept my sympathies for your loss.
