Robert Koth

Robert J. Koth, "Bob" our beloved father, grandfather, and fiancee, joined our Lord Dec. 21, 2007, at the age of 70; passing away peacefully at St. Alexius Medical Center, Bismarck, with his family by his side, following a courageous battle with cancer.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 28, 2007, at Perry Funeral Home, Mandan, with the Rev. Darrel Aleson officiating. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Bismarck. There will be no visitation, as cremation has taken place.

Bob was born Sept. 14, 1937, at Washburn, to John H. and Delores (Brummond) Koth. He was raised and educated in Washburn and Bismarck and graduated from Bismarck High School and Bismarck Junior College. In the late 60's to the early 70's, Bob lived in Hayward, Calif., with his wife, Darlene Glaser, and their four daughters. He worked for Hayward Motors, a Volkswagen dealership, for a number of years. Bob worked as an automotive parts manager at Century Motors Inc. for 25 years and drove for Taxi 9000 for 15 years. After retiring, he and his fiancee, Carole, enjoyed traveling. They made many trips to Minnesota, to Eden Prairie to visit his daughter, Joan, and her family and to Moorhead to visit their son, Tim, and his family. They went out to Washington and down to Kansas City, to visit family and friends. Time spent with his family was especially precious to him. He was a member of the Eagles.

He is survived by his fiancee, Carole Haugen; one son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Karen Haugen, Moorhead, Minn.; four daughters and four sons-in-law, Melody and Douglas Schacher, Mandan, Patricia and Duane Tokach, Bismarck, Joan and Jim Pedersen, Eden Prairie, and Rhonda and Todd Backman, Bismarck; the mother of his four daughters, Darlene Glaser, Bismarck; eight grandchildren, D.J. Tokach, Britni Pedersen, Nicolette "Nickel" and Ashley Backman, Shane (Kim) Haugen, Bill Haugen, Jeremy (Abby) Haugen and Joshua Haugen; four great-grandchildren, Maddi, Jack, Noah and Kaleb; and special cousin, Peggy (Raymond) Wicklander, Washburn.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, Jason; and grandson, Galen Tokach.

The family would like to thank the St. Alexius Hospice nurses and staff for their wonderful care.

This obituary was originally published in the Bismarck Tribune.

Not sure what to say?

Bob was a wonderful man, full of life and brought many smiles for our family and especially for my Granny Carole.

We enjoyed seeing him travel with Granny and mostly seeing them together watching sports. (Between basketball and baseball, there were many good discussions on which team was better!!)

He will be missed by many but know that he was loved more for the person he was and how he enriched so many lives while here.

My deepest sympathy is offered to those who lost...
