Not sure what to say?

It was only today, 8/12/21 that I learned of Bob´s death from a friend who´d grown up with Bob in Worcester and who had been trying to contact him to inform of the death of another friend and priest, Fr John Julian. Bob was the seminarian at my home parish, Annunciation of Our Lady in Waukegan, IL (now in Gurnee,IL) when I was in high school. Knowing I was thinking and praying about becoming a priest, he invited me to spend a weekend at Nashotah House. A decade later, we were colleagues in...

He simply was an outstanding man in so many ways! It was my distinct pleasure to have known him and conversed with him so many times at St. Johns. He will be sorely missed by so many, and a great loss for St. Johns and the community. My deepest sympathy goes out to his lovely wife, Carol, and may Robert's soul rest in peace!!

I’ve never forgotten you Padre! You and your wife, Carol (hi neighbor Ma), were such awesome people to have as role models in high school . We really felt cared about and a true sense of belonging in the youth group. I know you’re in heaven with my parents - and that we will meet again in God’s perfect time. Blessings to you and your family.

Rest in Heavenly Peace Father L'Homme. I miss you and your hugs every Sunday after church at St. Paul's Episcopal Cathedral in Peoria IL when I was a kid. You also officiated my baptism and confirmation. You were always so nice and funny and I enjoyed your church services. You would be near the front of the procession when I was in children's choir and also when I was in the adult choir. Me and my friend Megan Poston would draw pictures on the programs and you would find them and compliment...

What a joy it was all those years ago to have served as Dean L’Homme’s curate at St. Paul’s, Kankakee, Illinois. I remember those days, long ago now, with great thanksgiving. I recall Bob’s quick wit and great sense of humor. But I am also grateful for all that I learned from him during those years when I was newly ordained. How the time has flown!

Space is too short here to recount some of my favorite stories which are treasured memories. Carol, my heart goes out to you. The...

My late husband Bill Giroux and myself were married in St Paul’s in 1973. Our 2 children were both batiste by Fr L’Homme. I used to teach Sunday school for the preschool children for several years. I loved to hear Fathers sermons and to be apart of my Husband’s family’s church until we moved to Florida. God blessing be with all his family at this season of Remembrance and Holidays. For one of the few times in my life, I am completely without words to relate my feelings about Dean Bob (my little pet name while I worked with him). He was a man of his word, always greeted me with a smile and was filled with fun and crazy pranks. He was, for me, a joy to be around while he was storytelling and working on The Epistle the cathedral monthly newsletter - to make sure I hadn’t put in anything too goofy! Loved this man and was devastated when he retired. Now he has gone on to...

I was lucky to have Father L'Homme as a part of my childhood. He officiated over my baptism and my first communion. I have so many fond memories of him and my time at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Kankakee, IL. Even after we moved away, I always looked forward to returning to go to Midnight Mass on Christmas Eve. One of my favorite memories of Father L'Homme is of him blessing my babydoll when I brought the doll up to communion with me.

I am so sorry to hear about Dean L'Hommes passing. My condolences.
