I never knew this man personally but I heard good things from Jonathan Galvan, a long-time friend of his. Actually, maybe I did meet him once at Jonathan's old house before they moved to Tully.
He struck me as a character, humorous and someone I could understand why Jonathan spent so much time with.

I sit here and can't help but be overwhelmed with a plethora of memories from my childhood. Majority good, some sad, and the most, extremely knowledgeable. A love for our history I possess, because of the gratitude and honor you held for our God and Country. Robert Lakie was my father-in-law, and more than that he was a friend, and inspiration to my life. This man had a heart of gold, I never felt like an outsider in his household, he accepted me as his own son from day one. Dad was slow to anger, a calming influence in his household, and rock solid in his beliefs.
