I came to SUNY Albany as a freshman biology major with no high school physics and would surely have failed had it not been for Prof. Lanni. He reviewed my final exam with me and assured me that though I hadn't passed it, he could clearly follow how I worked out the problems, but my math was off. He gave me another chance to take the exam and I passed with flying colors. He was so kind and understanding and supportive. I always looked forward to his class, because he made learning fun. So sorry to hear of Bob's passing. We will always remember him as a fine colleague and a very friendly and supportive presence in the Physics Department.

Bob was a terrific guy who we always enjoyed seeing at Church. Over the years we would talk about home improvements that he was doing or wanted to explore. If there was a good idea Bob knew how to find it. Always kind to others we were beneficiaries of his warm and genuine nature. His love for family was so evident and admirable. We will pray for him and your family.

Uncle Bob was the younger brother of my Dad (Mario) and the last of that Lanni generation. Our generation has gained so much from them and particular Uncle Bob. He was a wonderful man, devoted to his family and friends, and students at SUNY. There are so many great memories and stories regarding Uncle Bob that will stay with us all forever. The Chicago White Sox baseball bat is my favorite, one that Uncle Bob shared with me at a recent family gathering. Sorry we can't make it to the services...

So sorry to hear about your loss. I remember Bob as a good colleague and a fellow lover of music whom I frequently encountered at SPAC. Please accept my condolences.

We were so sad to hear about Uncle Bob's passing and want you all know how much we appreciated his kind demeanor, wit, intelligence, and warmth. We have so many great memories....he will be missed. We wish we could be there to pay our respects in person, but please know you are in our hearts here in California.

My uncle Bob was a very intelligent and accomplished man who was very humble. My mother often commented on the fact that he did not talk about the professional recognition he received. He also was a very kind and gentle person. I am sure he will be greatly missed.
