Not sure what to say?

I will never forget laughing until I cried quietly in the back of Mr. Larzalere's class in 1988. I've been thinking of him a lot lately- here's why: He used to say "it's good to be the king!" I think he was quoting Mel Brooks and editorializing on the politics of the day. Now I have a newborn son and I find myself saying to him, "it's good to be the baby!" And I think of Larz every time.

Mr.larzelere played a huge role in my life. He was my coach my favorite teacher and someone I could talk to about anything. He sparked my interest in crimimology and the law which became my major at IUP. Without his Influence I might not gone to college. The other day before I learned of his death I was thinking about him and his trade mark ending for class. " Lets wrap it up and take it home." Thank you Mr. Larzelere.

Larz's classes were excellent. I still repeat some of his stories, to this day. At the time I just found him entertaining; in retrospect, I learned he was secretly teaching us a ton amidst the animated vocalizations, contorted expressions and wild gesturing. Very sneaky for a big guy! He was a central character in the fabric of that unique high school. SHS 76.

I played football for Bob at Swarthmore High in the 70's. He was a wonderful man, tremendously funny, and a great coach!!!!

Mr. Larzelere was an extraordinary teacher, certainly in the running for the best one I ever had (and I've been very lucky in my teachers). I laughed so hard in his classes that the chuckles reverberate to this day and yet I learned to love the "Worldly Philosophers" as well. Very few people can walk that tightrope as gracefully and it made for a truly great class. SHHS 1989

Mr. Larzelere was one of my favorite teachers too! He always made me smile. And who can forget his Elvis channeling! He was the main reason I chose to major in Psychology. What a special teacher he was. Sincere sympathy to his family.
-Rachel Kopple Martin, SHS 1976

Mr. Larzelere was one of my favorites, I'll never forget the trivia game he used to play with his classes...even though the name of the game escapes me right now ("You betcha nerd"??). His great laugh, his dry sense of humor, the red 944 porsche, his love for his job....I wish I knew him as an adult.

-Brett Mucklow SHHS 1993

Mr. Larzelere was one of my most memorable and definitely favorite teachers in high school. I remember his light hearted sense of humor and ready smile. My condolences to the family - he was a special man! - Jeri Hunt

Judy, although I only met you and Bob as his journey with cancer began, I enjoyed all our time spent chatting about children, grandchildren, and life in general. You were a loving, wonderful couple and I know that Bob's spirit will live on in you, your son, and your grandchildren. My love and sympathies are with you.
