LEONARD, Robert R. - Of Flint, age 74, died Friday, January 8, 2010 at Genesys Hospice Care Center in Goodrich. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Father Jay Gantz officiating. Cremation will take place following the service. Those desiring may make contributions to Genesys Hospice Care Center in Goodrich. Visitation 2-9 p.m. Tuesday and 12 noon Wednesday until the time of the service at the funeral home. Bob was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan on December 22, 1935, the son of the late Royal and Evelyn (Russeau) Leonard and was a resident of Flint all of his life. Bob enjoyed fishing for bluegill and bass and liked to hunt for many varieties of mushrooms. Mr. Leonard retired from General Motors-Fisher Body in 1985, after 30 years of service and was a member of UAW Local #581. Surviving are wife, Roberta; three children, Judith and husband Jim Porterfield of Cadillac, Tracey and companion Barb Newman of Marquette and Andrew of Flint; six grandchildren, Jamey (Stefani) Leonard, Joshua Porterfield, Alisha Blaska, Gabriel Colden, Heather and Jimmy Newman; five great-grandchildren, Jayke, Jamey Jr. and Sarey Jay Leonard, Anthony and James Newman; sister, Janet (Avon) Bright of Flint; brother, Tom (Pam) Hendricks of North Carolina; five sisters-in-law, Bernita Stewart of Davison, Helen Sheltraw and companion Tom, Patricia (Gene) Burch, Sandra (Leonard) Aagessen, all of Flint, Delores Boyd of Georgia; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Robert; step-father, Casey Hendricks and brother, Joseph Boyd. Your condolences may be shared with the family at swartzfuneralhomeinc.com
